The French Alps are now directly accessible via Eurostar ski trains, and places are up for grabs.
Tickets have been put on sale early for the travel firm’s sell-out services direct to Moutiers, Aime la Plagne and Bourg St Maurice. The prices start at £179 for a return journey.
Two direct ski trains will run each week. Departing on Friday night and arriving early Saturday morning the overnight train gives you an extra two days on the slopes.
For those who like to see the sights along the journey, the day-service leaves London Waterloo on Saturday morning and arrives at Bourg St Maurice early evening.
Eurostar is also allowing an extra item of luggage to be taken on the train free, on top of the normal luggage allowance (a pair of skis or a snowboard). There is no need to wait at airport baggage reclaim.
A company spokeswoman said that tickets for resorts in Switzerland would also be available later this year thanks to onward connections in Paris.
“More and more of our passengers are discovering the ease and convenience of onward travel thanks to Europe’s high speed rail network,” she said.
