China will take its tally of indoor ski slopes to seven when the 1km facility named after Olympic ice skater Ye Qiaobo opens in Guangzhou, near Hong Kong.
It is the fourth slope in the country to be named after the speed skater, who won medals at the 1992 and 1994 Olympic Winter Games. She has since developed a love for skiing.
The latest slope to bear her name will be almost twice as long as the present longest indoor slope, reportedly measured at 600m in Amneville, France. The French slope took the record from lengthy facilities in Germany and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile a 500m long slope is being built in Nanjing.
