Swiss skiing champion Carlo Janka has cemented his position as a firm favourite at the forthcoming Vancouver Games with an imperious display at the men’s alpine World Cup in Colorado.
Janka achieved three wins in as many days in three different disciplines on the Birds of Prey course, a record that was last set by Frenchman Jean-Claude Killy in Franconia in 1967.
The 23-year-old showed skill beyond his years to successfully negotiate a course which featured fresh snow to take the giant slalom, super combined and men’s downhill events over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Janka now has five podiums, including three victories, from six starts this season with his latest accomplishments placing him at the top of the World Cup standings and making him the one to watch in Vancouver in February next year.
